Onur Küçük announced the second release candidate of the Turkish Pardus linux 2009: “ The International CD of RC2, containing 11 languages to choose from, is also available in FTP. So Devin posted about Z-Push , the cool-sound open-source implementation of Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol. Here’s the problem: the Z-Push folks kinda forgot to buy a license for EAS , and I have a problem with that. After years of complaints that Microsoft wasn’t being open and sharing its protocols, they started to document the behavior of their protocols and offer some of them for licensing, EAS included. That’s good, right? It’s good enough for Apple, Google, and the many other companies that licensed EAS, anyway.

Firefox extensions: They’re just software, like ActiveX. Extend, modify and control the browser. Firefox extension points: XUL: XML user interface language XBL: XML Binding Language – logical behaviour of widgets XPCOM: Reusable components, interface to file system etc. XPConnect: Allows Javascript to connect to XPCOM Chrome: Special browser zone that is fully trusted by firefox – code is fully trusted, has access to filesystem, user passwords etc.

The challenge, however, is finding task management software that fits with my workflow. I’ve tried several web solutions—including Remember the Milk (RTM) and a self-hosted Tracks setup—but the problem with browser-based to-do lists is that I tend to ignore what’s not immediately visible on my desktop.

I got my new 64bit install of Ubuntu upgraded. Then I get an error that pops up and says “There was an error while performing indexing: Index corrupted” and it ask if you want to reindex. No matter what you say you get getting the message for awhile on the screen. I am thinking what did I do wrong. I did a search on the Internet and found it is bug in Ubuntu 9.04. It has been reported and they are working on it. Sort of spoils my upgrade.
