(Cowritten with Dan ) America may run on Dunkin, but sometimes it seems like the internet runs on something else; caffeinated, sugary and at times, rude and disrespectful. Fanboys (and girls). You know who we’re talking about. They are the first to yell “TROLL” if you dare denigrate their favorite subject. They are the first to jump to the defense of the oft undefendable actions of their heroes in a manner not dissimilar to the way in which one would hopefully defend the honor of their their significant other.

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced today the launch of its first Internet modem based on the next-generation Long Time Evolution (LTE) technology, dubbed Nokia Internet Modem RD-3. According to the company, the new modem uses its own LTE modem technology development. The new Nokia Internet Modem RD-3, the company announced, was set to prove itself suitable for LTE technology environments, while being used along with different network vendors, as well as with measurement equipment manufacturers and operators.

Black Magic Design (BMD) has bought daVinci color grading systems. Black Magic known for it world class signal convertors and hardware boxes. daVinci, makes of Resolve and Revival, has been based out of Florida, but interestingly, software R&D for some time has been based in Singapore – also home to Black Magic’s head office. With this move, the new company will be increasing – almost doubling – their R&D staff on the Resolve and Revival products. What is changing is the companies reliance on custom build in house Hardware.

The gimpusers.com site has a preview of new features in the upcoming GIMP 2.8 release. ” It’s now possible to group layers into folders in a tree-like way. You can move and show/hide all layers of a group at once so it will finally be possible to create complex layouts without getting lost. The layer sets don’t work perfectly, since layer masks don’t work yet for example. Nevertheless the basic behaviour works quite well already! ” 16-bit image depth is not on the list, unfortunately.

Okay so here goes, my pc (laptop) would shut down, sometimes blue screen. I in turn decided to start fresh and reinstall my OS and apps from the disks that came with my system. Was working fine for a while then began to encounter issues (blue screen). I did a system scan and the result suggested I download an update from microsoft KB..for blue screen. pc shut down again. When I decided to do another reinstall I deleted the partition and reinstalled the OS using the partition space.

Toshiba Portege has populated its line of ultraportable laptops with 12.1-inch models based on Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors in the series. Portege A600 has the SU9300 (Penryn, 1.20GHz) that ’s much less expensive than the other two models. Currently, Toshiba Portege A600 offers four models in the line, and all have the same specifications – different model numbers represent only the frame of different color on each model. These colors are soft pink, Titanium Silver, Cosmic Black and Frost White.
