So way back in the 2.4 Linux kernel days I operated a shell server. It was kind of like a “proto honeypot”. We set it up to portray a bunch of fake information about itself. We then released it into the wilds of IRC claiming it was a “machine we just owned here have a free account.” Then we monitored the systems use via ttysnoop applications and pulled copies of anything uploaded. The result was we pulled about 4 gigs of exploit archives.

Well it’s official, Fabio is part of the Gentoo developers team now. This is a great thing for Sabayon and Gentoo. It didn’t come easy tho, but with support and his desire to do it, he did it. Our relationship with gentoo gets better and better all the time. One just has to put the negative comments aside and remember what is important, making it all better. When Fabio said he was applying for Gentoo dev, I cringed as I knew it was gonna be a tough road, but he had good support pushing him and when he got down, we stood beside him to encourage him.

My wife is a really good cook and baker. So much so that I have been trying to find the perfect recipe manager to fit her needs. This software needs to be able to import files from web sites, create personal recipes, automatically adjust a recipe ingrediants to match serving size, and have an easy to use interface. The Gormet Recipe Manager is one such tool that comes very, very close to hitting this nail on the  head.

We’ve turned off comments on the original post ; there were about 200 already and there’s only so much that can be said before people stop adding anything new. I wanted to let you know that I received a private response from Mark Shuttleworth, in which he says that he has no intention of apologising for his comment. I know that a number of other people have approached him in person and by email, both before and after I posted my open letter, to ask him to consider the effects of what he said, and I’m still hoping that he will come around.
